MANCINI STILL CHASING DE ROSSI

Roberto Mancini has said that he will not give up on signing Daniel de Rossi from Roma. Daniel de Rossi has been regarded as one of the finest players from Italy in recent times, but he has always had a great affinity for Roma.

He supported the club as a boy and has always reiterated the fact that he wants to end his career at Roma. However, the recent few seasons have not been particularly great for de Rossi, as he has not received the same kind of pampering from the management at Roma. As a result, there has been a lot of speculation that he would be willing to consider his options in the summer transfer window.

One club that has been linked constantly with signing de Rossi is Manchester City. One of the main reasons for de Rossi to consider future is that he is approaching 30 years of age and this move will probably be the last major one of his career. Hence, he would consider moving to a club where he would be felt as an important player, and also a club who will be willing to meet his wage demands. Only very few clubs in the world actually come under this category and Manchester City are one of them.

"I wouldn't be surprised if he stays in Rome. But if he doesn't sign, City will be ready. It's difficult to tear away a Roman footballer - and Roma fan - from Rome. As Romans are tied up in their origins and lifestyle. But if one day De Rossi is on the market, Manchester City will try - like Real Madrid, Chelsea and all the big clubs," Robert Mancini said when asked about the possibility of signing Daniel de Rossi in the January transfer window.
