NOT OVER

Roma manager Rudi Garcia has failed to accept the notion that the title race is effectively over in the Italian Serie A after Juventus opened an 11 point advantage after this weekend’s result.

Juventus have already opened a sizeable advantage over second placed Roma before the weekend, but it just extended after their comprehensive 2-0 win over AC Milan. Meanwhile, Roma could only manage a 0-0 draw with Inter Milan. After the match, Garcia, who has performed a great revolution at Roma, stated that the title race is not over despite only a few matches remaining in the season.

Juventus were expected to struggle against AC Milan due to their commitments in the Europa league, but they were totally dominant over Clarence Seedorf’s men. Despite coming into the match in a great run of form, Roma were unable to find a way past Inter Milan.

Prior to this match, Garcia’s men had won 10 out of the 12 matches at home, but they could not stay in touch with the leaders. Roma’s position in the second place, though, is almost secure after Napoli failed to take advantage of Roma’s dropped points. They could only manage a 1-1 draw with Livorno especially due to the absence of Gonzalo Higuain leading the attack.

"If Juventus win tomorrow the title race over? No, there are still many matches to play. Nothing is over. We will see what will happen. We had a difficult week. When we fail to win is at least important not to lose, as we managed today," said Garcia after the match. He was appointed only in the summer and Roma were expected to challenge for top five place. However, they have done exceedingly well to maintain a title challenge against one of the top teams in Italy right now.
