ARSENAL TARGET SET FOR NEW CONTRACT

Arsenal have been linked with Italian wonderkid NicoloZaniolo as Unai Emery seeks to bolster his attack ahead of next season. the latest reports coming from Italy is that AS Roma are looking to offer the youngster a new contract to ward off interest from the Premier League outfit.

Zaniolo has been one of the breakthrough players in the SerieA this season putting in a string of impressive performances for the Giallorossi. The attacking midfielder has become a constant feature in the first team forming an interesting tandem with Bosnian forward EdinDzeko.

It is understood that Arsenal had made contact with Roma over a transfer for the 19-year-old earlier in the season and sent scouts to watch the player. Roma areunwilling to lose the attacking midfielder who has been likened to club legend Francesco Totti.

Italian tabloid CalcioMercato claims that the Italian outfit are ready to offer the player a new contract but could hit some difficulties as Zaniolo is demanding a wage of €2.4million yearly. This is considered high for a player with just one season of regular football on his belt.

“Arsenal value Zaniolo at around £36 million and could make a move in the summer as Emery wants a wide player ahead of next seasonl. The Spanish tactician has been able to stabilize the club after the departure of Arsene Wenger with the “Gunners in pole position to finish in the top 4.

Emery is said to be worried about his current options as he has been forced to play Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil out wide due to a lack of options. Alex Iwobi who is the only natural winger has failed to display the level of consistency required to play at the Emirates. It would be an interesting transfer as not many Italians play in the Premier League.
