DE ROSSI BACKS ENRIQUE

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has extended his support for underfire Roma manager Luis Enrique by saying that he is one of the talented coaches in the world.

Luis Enrique is a former Barcelona B team manager. Roma decided to take the gamble this season by providing him with huge amounts of funds.

However, he has not been able to replicate the Barcelona style at the Italian club. The club are now in the sixth position and are fighting for a place in the Champions League. However, the likes of Inter Milan and Lazio are considered as the favourites for Champions League qualification.

This has led to rumours that Luis Enrique might be sacked at the end of the season. However, Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has come out in support of the manager by saying that Enrique is one of the most talented coaches he has ever witnessed.

De Rossi also said that Enrique can be compared with the likes of Marcello Lippi and Fabio Capello at their young age. According to De Rossi, Enrique has been working extremely hard for the improvement of the team, but has been unlucky when it comes to getting results. The Italian midfielder expects results to improve sooner rather than later.

"I still maintain that he is one of the most talented coaches in the world. He has the same aura about him as people like [Luciano] Spalletti, [Marcello] Lippi and [Fabio] Capello. But unfortunately he has also been very unlucky, and I will continue to stand here and defend him. We expected it a little, it is normal that fans lose patience. This was the perfect day to climb the standings, as results went for us, but now we must think about Napoli," De Rossi said in an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
