DECISION MADE SOON

Roma's search to appoint a successor to Luis Enrique seems to be coming to an end after the general manager Franco Baldini confirmed that the club will be making an announcement on the decision soon.

It is expected that Zdenek Zeman will be announced as the new manager of the club barring a problems within his contract. Zdenek Zeman is the right hand man for former England manager Fabio Capello, but he is all set to leave the former AC Milan manager to become a manager on his own. It has been very poor season for Roma after they finished outside the Champions League places.

It meant that they will be missing out on revenue of up to £ 30 million, which would have been enough to keep the loan signings permanently. Due to the fact that they have now finished outside the Champions League places, Roma will have to let a number of the loan signings return to their parent clubs.

Fernando Gago and Bojan are some of the important names that will depart the Stadio Olympico in the summer. Zdenek Zeman has the experience of having managed in the Italian Serie A, while he was also the manager of AS Roma for a couple of years close to the turn of the millennium.

His most recent success came with Pescara. He guided the club back to the Italian Serie A after securing promotion in the second division. Roma will be hoping to improve on their seventh place finish in the league. As a result, they will be without European football of any kind.

"I believe that we can rule out any surprises. The affair will be concluded in a favourable manner. We had the chance to meet Zeman this morning [Friday]. I must thank the president of Pescara [Daniele Sebastiani], who made it possible for us to see him. We discussed everything about his possible return in detail but there are still some details to be defined. However, there is optimism regarding the success of the negotiations," Baldini told the football blog.
