Sampdoria attacker MikkelDamsgaard has been offered to AS Roma by club president, Massimo Ferrero. Ferrero told Corrieredello Sport about Damsgaard and Roma in an exclusive interview.

Sampdoria president Ferrero is a fan of AS Roma and he invited them for talks for Damsgaard. He confirmed this during the aforementioned interview. Ferrero is certain that Damsgaard would be a good addition to the AS Roma squad under manager Jose Mourinho. Portuguese tactician Mourinho became the new AS Roma manager earlier this summer. His last managerial job before Roma was in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur. Mourinho was sacked as the Spurs boss towards the end of last season.

Sampdoria player Damsgaard was one of the stars at the end ofthe Euro 2020 tournament. Damsgaardplayed in all the six games for Denmark who reached the last four before they were knocked out by England. Damsgaard was on target with the opening goal in that semifinal clash with the Three Lions but it was not enough as his team lost 2-1 to their opponents.

Damsgaardis a winger and an attacking midfielder by trade. He has played in those positions in his single Serie A season. A lot of clubs outside Italy have been linked with a move for him and Roma were not part of those clubs. Also, recently Roma signed a player who has similar characteristics in EldorShomurodov. Despite the invitation from Roma to make a bid forDamsgaard, Ferrero and Sampdoriaare not ready to lower their €25m asking price.

Roma are in the market for a new midfielder and it's unlikely to be Arsenal star Granit Xhakawho's leaning towards a new contract with the Gunners. The Italians were not able to meet the €20m asking pricefrom Arsenal for Swiss international Xhaka.
