LAMELA WANTS TO IMPROVE

Tags:

Roma midfielder Erik Lamela has said that he wants to improve as a player to become Roma's version of Cristiano Ronaldo, but has also said that the difference in the tactics in Italy has made him extremely confused.

He has said that he is struggling to cope with the changes with regard to the tactical aspect of the game in Italy, but is confident that he will become a much better player this season. He has also said that he wants to win the Italian Serie A title with Roma. The club finished in the seventh position last season and are looking to enter into the Champions League after many seasons without the prime European football.

The Argentine midfielder was signed from the Argentina club River Plate one season ago, but he has failed to live up to the expectations in his first full season with the club. However, the midfielder has said that he is still learning to cope with the differences of playing in Italy when compared with the play in Argentina. The 20-year-old arrived at the club with the reputation of being the hottest property in Argentine football. However, he was one of the disappointing players in the last season for Roma, as they finished just below Inter Milan.

“I never felt too much pressure in my first season, but I do want to score and provide more assists for my teammates too. Can we win the Scudetto? Every team can. My objectives are the same as everyone else’s, as I want to have a good season and hopefully win. I have improved physically as a player, but above all tactically, as Italian football is much more tactical than what I’m used to. It’s a bit of a struggle," said the player in a recent press conference. Roma will be starting the new season at home to Catania.
