MANCINI STILL CHASING DE ROSSI

Roberto Mancini has said that he will not give up on signing Daniel de Rossi from Roma. Daniel de Rossi has been regarded as one of the finest players from Italy in recent times, but he has always had a great affinity for Roma.

OSVALDO FINED AND SUSPENDED

Roma have fined striker Pablo Osvaldo € 50,000 and have also suspended him from the club, after a bust up between him and teammate Erik Lamela.

Osvaldo is reported to have punched Lamela in the dressing room. They were in the dressing room following the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Udinese. Manager Luis Enrique has also said that the club should be taking immediate action over Pablo Osvaldo, whose actions have threatened to derail Roma's season.

PJANIC HAILS TOTTI

AS Roma may be 7 points off the top of the table already, with just over a quarter of the season gone, but that doesn't mean that Bosnian international Miralem Pjanic has given up on getting into the Champions League next season! Far from it!

ROMA CANCELS ADRIANO'S CONTRACT

Roma are all set to cancel with immediate effect the contract of Brazilian striker Adriano.

The 29-year-old joined the club from Flamengo in the summer of 2010, but the powerful attacker's stay in the Italian capital has not been a success so far, having played just a handful of matches this season and mainly warming the bench.

Adriano recently returned to Roma three days later than agreed after spending some time in Brazil to recover from a shoulder injury, and the former Inter forward made things even worse when he didn't show up at an appointment with a club doctor at the weekend.

ROMA HAVING POSITIVE ATTITUDE

AS Roma are heading into the Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk searching for a positive result after two major losses in Serie A.

On Saturday, Claudio Ranieri's side slumped to a 2-0 loss at home to a rampant Napoli, while the week before Inter Milan ran riot in a 5-3 win at the San Siro.

"Our enthusiasm is not at its best. I think you all know the problems, too," midfielder Simone Perrotta said. "We're in a situation that has been dragging on for some time.

ROMA ADVANCE

Roma advance into the next stage of the champions league thanks to a draw with Cluj. Roma secured second place in Group E behind Bayern Munich by drawing 1-1 at Cluj on Wednesday. FC Basel needed to beat Bayern to stand any chance of catching Roma but was routed 3-0 in Germany.

Group H had both qualifying spots open. Shakhtar finished on top by winning 2-0 at home to FC Braga, and Arsenal joined the Ukrainian champions after a 3-1 victory over Partizan Belgrade.

RANIERI NOT CRITICISING TOTTI

Roma head coach Claudio Ranieri has refused to blame Totti for Roma's defeat to Bayern Munich. The Giallorossi suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Bundesliga giants in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League meeting at the Allianz Arena.

Roma's long-serving captain Totti came under fire for his display in the defeat, although Ranieri has refused to hit out. Rather than criticise Totti's display he fully expects the 33-year-old to return to form in the club's next outing against Bologna.

MEXES UNSURE OF STAY

Phillipe Mexes has revealed that he is unsure of continuing his seven year spell with Roma. Mexes is in the final year of his contract at Roma and could leave on a free transfer next summer.

Roma have offered Mexes a new deal to extend his stay in the Eternal City, but the Frenchman admits he is unsure about staying as his place is under threat from the recent arrival of Nicolas Burdisso.

"Burdisso came back to Roma and it's obvious the competition has increased again," Mexes told France Football.

ADRIANO HAVING HIGH HOPES FOR ROMA

Adriano believes that Roma has a great chance for success this season. Work continues for Roma's troops at their Riscone di Brunico camp, and Adriano is reaching his targets.

"I am tranquil, the team is there. I am doing everything I can to find my best physical form," he told the press.

"I find myself well with Totti on the pitch, but obviously there is plenty still that we can improve upon because we have only played very little together.

ROMA'S TOTTI SPEAKS OUT

Roma captain Francesco Totti feels he will always receive scorn from the detractors - no matter what he achieves with his side, as he collected an award for the amount of minutes he has played.

Totti has set a new club record of playing the most minutes with 34,740 racked up in his club career so far. Yet he says he will always be criticised.

"They will always attack me and speak about me even if I reached all the records in the world," he told laroma24.it after receiving the award.
