AS ROMA TEETERING TOWARDS CRISIS AS FANS AND PLAYERS CLASH

The recent poor run of form coupled with the growing tension between the team and fans is threatening to overshadow Roma’s season. The Italian side have failed to win its last three matches in all competitions and suffered a humiliating defeat in the CoppaItalia.

The latest twist in this saga saw Roma fans draw an offensive graffiti in the outside walls of Kolarov house in which it referred to the full back as a Croatian. Kolarov is Serbian and it is well known of the political tension between Serbia and Croatia due to disputes on territories.

This graffiti is just the latest of events happening at the Italian capital club. A group of supporters had a go at Kolarov and Kostas Manolas at the train station after the 2-2 draw with Atlanta. A few days later Roma suffered an embarrassing 7-1 defeat to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia and the fans hurled stones and eggs at the team bus after the game.

The following day at the training ground a group of fans awaited the first team bus and pelted eggs and bottles at Roma’s coach Eusebio Di Francesco.

Kolarov has been targeted by many fans due to his history with town rival Lazio and his statement earlier in the season in which he said that Roma fans know nothing about football. Roma Ultras are important to the club and it remains to be seen how long this standoff would last.

“Roma secured a decent draw in their last league fixture at home to AC Milan“. NicoloZanolo cancelled out KrzysztofPiatek early “goal for the visitors“ in what was a game of several missed chances.

Roma currently lies in 5th place in the league a single point behind AC Milan in the battle for the final Champions League spot.
