During the 2014-15 season of the Champions League, As.Roma failed to make it out of the group stages as the Italian team only won 1 match in these stages of the European competition as they went through a disappointing campaign.
Truth be told, it was a very difficult group as As.Roma was pitted along with Bayern Munich, Manchester City and CSKA Moscow in group E of the previous season. Even though it was a very complicated group, As.Roma was expected to do better as they could only win 1 match and lost 3 while having to settle with 2 draws.

Rudi Garcia says that he has no plans to quit

Roma manager Rudi Garcia says that he has no plans to quit the Italian club after a poor campaign.

After several years of struggle to get back into the Champions League, it was Garcia who brought the club back into the European competition in his first season. Roma almost won the title back then, but the last season has been a very disappointing one. Apart from seeing the title challenge wither a long time ago, Garcia’s team finished just one point above arch rivals Lazio. The final difference between Roma and champions Juventus was an astonishing 17 points.

Rudi Garcia remains confident on the team

Roma manager Rudi Garcia remains confident that the team will be able to finish the season on a strong note despite only managing a 1-1 draw against Torino.

Apart from the two dropped points, the club also witnessed their arch rivals Lazio overtake them in the Italian Serie A table. Lazio now lead Roma by a point with eight games left in the campaign. Aside from the point advantage, Lazio also have a significant advantage in terms of goal difference which will effectively translate into an advantage for the team currently ahead in the table.

Roma match against Torino

As.Roma’s latest Serie A match was played against Torino on November 9 of the ongoing year and the team of Rudi Garcia blasted 3 goals past their opponents which was more than enough for As.Roma to secure all the points from this match and continue their march for the top spot of the Italian League, Serie A.

It was a convincing performance from the players of As.Roma with the team opening up the scoreboard as early as the 8th minute and not showing any real struggle or difficulty in their match against Torino.

Roma looking to be a tough challenge for Bayern

Bayern Munich will be the visitors to the Stadio Olimpico in the midweek Champions League action. Roma will be looking to provide a formidable opposition to the German club. The Italian outfit have made a great start to the season, although they have recently dropped points in the league. After recently managing a 1-1 draw with Manchester City away from home, Roma will be looking to take advantage of the home support in order to get three points. This would put them in a great position to qualify from the group stages.

Sunderland hoping to avoid relegation

After managing to stay in the Premier League in an extraordinary fashion, Sunderland would have been hoping to avoid the relegation dogfight this season. The club seemed very determined to improve the squad during the transfer window. Even after several new signings, Sunderland are yet to take victory in this campaign. They have had extremely good results against the likes of Manchester United against whom they managed a 1-1 draw, but Poyet says that it is only through a victory that they can improve their form. Sunderland have lost against fellow relegation rivals QPR in an away match and they sit just a few places about the relegation zone.
